How Much Does a Lazy Boy Recliner Cost? Is it worth it?

Wondering how much a Lazy Boy recliner costs? This post outlines all you need to know.

Lazy Boy has been a furniture household brand for years. They have a wide range of products that you can add to your cart.

While searching for the perfect recliner for you, price is a major factor. I decided to research how much you would need to cough up to get one.

Also, I surveyed a section of Lazy Boy customers to learn what they thought about their purchase.

Let’s dive in!

Average Cost of Lazy Boy Recliners

The retail price of a reclining chair may differ from one store to another and from one model to the next. But to give you an overview, let’s look at the various Lazy Boy recliner models and their prices.

The manual recliner is the entry-level option for Lazy Boy and may be purchased for $400 to $700. You may recline these chairs by pulling a lever or handle. They usually don’t have any fancy extras like cup holders.

There are also power recliners, which can cost anywhere from $700 to $2,000. One convenient feature of these recliners is the reclining mechanism’s electric motor. They also have convenient extras like movable headrests, lumbar support, and USB charging outlets.

The most expensive ones, which include premium lift chairs, can set you back between $2,000 and $4,000. Massage settings, heating therapy, and zero-gravity positions are just a few of the luxurious extras that come standard on these seats.

It’s worth noting that the cost of a Lazy Boy recliner may vary depending on its construction options and quality. For example, leather reclining chairs are often more expensive than their fabric-upholstered counterparts. Alterations to the product, such as new colors or materials, might also increase the final price.

A Lazy Boy chair can cost anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, fluctuating based on the model.

It would be best always to choose the recliner model that suits your budget. Premium models are much more likely to be high quality but will set you back more money.

Factors That Affect the Cost of Lazy Boy Recliners

The price of a Lazy Boy recliner can be affected by the following:

Brand of Reclining Chair: It was previously mentioned that the cost of a recliner varies greatly depending on its model.

In most cases, manual recliners are the least expensive choice, whereas electric recliners with extra amenities can be very pricey.

The materials used to make the chair are another factor in the final price. For instance, the cost of a leather recliner is typically more than that of a fabric one.

Recliners with extras like massage mechanisms, thermal therapy, and integrated USB ports are typically more expensive.

Certain recliners may cost more if you request a special custom fabric, finish, or hardware order.

The cost of a La-Z-Boy recliner may change based on the store from which you purchase it. You can save money by shopping at stores that offer sales and promotions.

These considerations should be considered when searching for a Lazy Boy recliner.

It’s tempting to go with the least expensive choice. But it’s best to consider the most important features to you before deciding.

Is it Worth It?

The Lazy Boy recliner has its fair share of positive and negative reviews. I sampled some customer reviews here:

Ruth Simmons: We went to La-Z-Boy to check out their selection of recliners because one of our loved ones desperately needed one. We got exactly what we needed at a reasonable price and with speedy shipping. We appreciate the excellent service.

Alicia Corwin: The help we received was outstanding. No one tried to force us to buy anything, and the service and recliner exceeded our expectations. The process of delivery was easy. If we ever need furniture again, we know exactly where to go.

Simon Williams: We went into LAZYBOY intending to purchase a few chairs but wound up leaving with an entire living room set! We had a great experience working with the sales team and are extremely satisfied with our purchases. The furniture is high-quality, and we particularly appreciate the ability to choose our fabrics.

Calvin Nuttall: What I bought has exceeded my expectations. Both my sofa and chair are high-quality, plush, and, most importantly, roomy! I’m confident they’ll serve me well for a long time. To sum up, I have no qualms about returning for future renovations.

Diane Brush: I paid 1100 dollars for my recliner. It had a little nick in the leather on one arm. If only LazyBoy had used metal instead of plastic for the drive mechanism, it would have been a wonderful chair.

Jo Galante Cicale: My chair had repairs in under six months, and parts are now falling off. We’ve been treated with indifference.

While there are several positive reviews, the negative reviews show that there are areas that Lazy Boy can improve on.

These areas were:

  • Use of plastic instead of metal for the drive mechanism on some models.
  • Warranty issues; some customers noted that the lifetime warranty on electronics and the mechanism was not enforced.
  • There were also cases of issues with customer service. Some customers had their recliners delivered late or with defects.

Now, to the burning question: Is it worth it?

I do believe the Lazy Boy recliner is worth it. But the Lazy Boy team needs to improve their customer service and ensure that the warranties associated with the recliner are enforced.

It is important to note that in terms of the build quality of the recliner, cheaper options are more likely to have issues. When choosing which recliner to add to your home, always choose the quality one.

Always read the reviews of the recliner model you pick out to get an idea of the build quality and other perks that come with it.

  1. Do not waste your money, and time; and save your health from the stress and anxiety, that you may experience, for over 14 months, from terrible customer service, from terrible store manager, from terrible store sales reps., from a top of the line leather recliner that will break down mechanically and electronically within the 1st week of delivery, from what was supposed to be a new chair. Save yourself from this nightmare.

  2. Buyer Beware. This company isn’t what it used to be. Check out the LazBoy Dissatisfied Customers group and you will find a list of complaints and experiences in trying to deal with Customer Service. After purchasing leather (or what I thought to be all leather) recliners they started to peel, flake in certain areas after 3 years and $2000+. After speaking with Customer Service and requesting a Supervisor and sending about a dozen pictures, there is nothing they are going to do. They made it sound like it was my problem but this group on Facebook tells me a lot of people had the same problems.

  3. It doesn’t matter how much they cost. They don’t honor their warranty. My couch has currently been broken 5 months. They won’t call me back. If I manage to get someone when I call they tell me I need to talk to someone else. Always in a big circle…

If I charged minimum wage for the amount of time I’ve spent just calling them and emailing to get it fixed I’d have enough money to buy a better couch elsewhere!

We purchased a leather power sofa 3 years ago. The leather on our sofa is peeling between the cushions. I purchased the sofa because I thought I would be getting quality, sorry to say this is sofa is such poor quality that I am embarrassed to have people see it. Complaints to store, company have gone unanswered! Warranty and service contract is worthless! DO NOT BUY LAZY BOY!

  5. Don’t waste your money!! The quality is so poor, and the customer service is even worse. I bought all leather furniture from them, and when it was delivered it was junk! The leather is super thin, and the sofa was more the size for someone who is 6ft 5in. The one I sat in at the store was perfect height, didn’t lean back too far etc…the one that they delivered was horrible!! No one could have sat comfortably on it. Two days later it was put it the basement, and a new leather sofa was bought ( not from Lazy boy). When I called the store, the saleswoman told me that the cushions would have to “settle”….I told her they were so thin already that if they settle I’ll be sitting on wood.

  6. Before you buy, just try calling the customer service center. My opinion is that the furniture is now junk. The 15 year old reclining couch that I was replacing is now more comfortable than the year old one that I recently purchased. I finally got parts under warranty but now they say that I have to pay for installation because I am past the one year warranty. You will find numerous webpages that are dissatisfied customers. Run away before you join us.

  7. Bought a “leather”
recliner along with the insurance. Started peeling after 1 1/2 years. Clearly stated on receipt LEATHER. Insurance was a joke. Total waste of money. Manager wouldn’t come out and speak with us. Do not buy their products. Total junk

Based on previous purchases from this company and their wide selection of fabrics, we ordered two high end recliners, one with power. It was a huge mistake! After waiting many months for delivery, the power recliner stopped working almost immediately. We experienced a lot difficulty in getting a repair person out, only to have the power to stop working shortly after. Another long delay without this chair, another tech visit , only to be told by Lazy Boy that they would not repair it, but would replace it . Of course that would mean another 9 months wait. After MUCH aggravation and wasted time, I finally got a much cheaper non power model in my fabric and a refund of the difference. So far it seems to be ok. The extra insurance we were encouraged to take was worthless during our ordeal.
Save yourself a lot of grief and don’t order a power recliner from them. It has been such a miserable experience, I will never order from them again

  9. There are several Facebook websites with thousands of previous LaZBoy customers who have had terrible experiences, no customer service, and can’t even get a response from this once excellent company.

I asked three times if my furniture would be made in the USA. Three times my salesperson assured me that all of their furniture is still made in the USA.
The excuse they used when it took eight months for the first two pieces of my three piece sectional was that it was probably in one of the containers at sea.
They did tell me that it would be at least 6 MORE months before the center piece of the sectional would be shipped. By this time I had found a coupe of the FB pages that I mentioned and saw for myself the poor quality people were experiencing. I also had a girlfriend who had purchased the BEST ahead of leather, BEST electric,
And BEST warranty chair that LaZ Boy offered. It disintegrated the first week, leaving a disabled person laying on her back on the floor, with no help.
LaZBoys solution for this 75 year old woman? Pack it up and bring it back.
    Seriously!

  10. Do your research before assuming Laz-Y-Boy is the same quality know for in the past. There is a Facebook group with hundreds of posts from dissatisfied customers and lack of customer service.

  11. I bought two recliners and paid 100.00 each for furn care and an additional 233.28 for a 3 year extended warranty. Within the first year I needed a repair and called National Lay Z Boy customer service and was told that I would have to text my information to them. I texted them. I had to send them a copy of my invoice because they could not find me in their system. I contacted the local store directly which did not return my calls to talk to the manager. After 4 months National finally came back stating that there was no warranty backed by Lay Z Boy, that the warranty was a local warranty only, good for the store that I bought them from. Don’t waist your time or hard earned money on a company living off their past reputation.

  12. LaZboy should be exposed for what they are, a company with very poor quality furniture, no customer service, and people who knowingly lie to sell sub quality furniture at high prices. They are no longer the company they once were. I have had a broken couch since August of 2022. I have called and called to get this repaired..Unanswered phone calls and more lies. DO NOT BUY FROM LAZBOY.

  13. Terrible customer service. Even chairs made as long ago as mine was (7 years) were made with plastic footrest mechanisms which will give out. New chairs have steel mechanisms but they will put you thru hell trying to order the new parts from them. You will be lucky to ever get a call back. This company does not care about quality of customer satisfaction. They deserve to go out of business.

Do your homework before you buy and do not buy from LaZBoy!!! They sell defective products and do not stand behind the expensive, trash they push to their customers. Their designers push the overpriced items and make you think you are getting quality products with a great warranty. Not True! Basically everything is a special order and you wait months to get the items and when you finally do get it, it is defective. The warranty is worthless and the Customer Service is horrible!!! Read reviews and go somewhere else!!! Wish I had!!!

  15. Lay-z-boy, perfect name for this company, everything built to the minimum standards they think they can get away with, actually maybe it should now be called Lazy-Boy, sounds the same but fits better, leather furniture that’s either spray painted with a vinyl paint to hide the poor quality or made from bonded leather, warranties that aren’t useable, my recliner peeled after just over a year, apparently the warranty didn’t cover accidental damage, they claimed it was because my medication altered my sweat and it wasn’t a manufacturing defect, the power recliner started playing up at just over two years, turned out it was the usb socket, the socket failed and the recliner started working again, warranty only covered electronics for 2years, I gave up, they have an excuse that covers any problems you have, can’t even cancel an order after three days even if your furniture isn’t delivered for six months

  16. Purchased a sectional and an extended warranty from Lazy Boy in January of 2021. Received it in November of 2021. October of 2022 I noticed the material “puddling” and a very small hole. Called Lazy Boy and they sent me to Warranty company. We Had to tear the couch apart to send pics of the entire couch and serial numbers under each individual piece. Got played for 5 months until they finally turned me down under warranty. Called back to Lazy Boy and rude Manager Rick refuses to do anything about it. Customer support also refuses to do anything about it because they aren’t a corporate store. I went to Lazy Boy for a better quality furniture and I received garbage. My husband prior to me had a Rooms to go warranty on a sectional and when it fell apart they applied his purchase price directly to a new piece. Dont bother trying to buy a better quality here because its not and ZERO customer service or help. If you like getting passed around this is the place for you. Wish I would of read these reviews prior to spending $9500 at The laziest company ever. Feel good to earn your name?

  17. Sadly I must advise that people do not purchase La-Z-boy furniture. They simply are not committed to Quality Control. As an La-Z-boy owner of a recliner I purchased in 1990, I was confident that my purchase in 2022 would run smoothly and be the same quality. It was not.
Our Pinnacle Recliner arrived with twisted leather on the left arm. The twist is major and clearly Quality Control did not care about shipping this chair. The delivery people told me that they would issue a service request but I should also call. It took 5 weeks to send a technical support person out only to take pictures.
After waiting four weeks, I had to proactively call again and was told that the product was defective and they would ship me a replacement arm. It is now almost 7 months since the recliner arrived, I have received two defective replacement arms. La-z-boy agreed that they had sent two defective arms and ordered another left replacement arm. I am still waiting for the third replacement arm. It was to ship in March 2023.
There is simply no Quality Control. I have been bounced back and forth between the Comfort Care Specialists and the Escalation Specialists. What does it say about a company that has employees with a title of escalation specialists?
It is so sad. They simply do not care. They also told me to “throw away” the defective arms. It does not appear that they wish to train their team from manufacturing, quality control to customer service.
    Do not buy from them.

  18. Horrible!!!!! $2k spent on a recliner with 2 warranties. I started requesting repair on 1/13/23. Broken mechanism ordered wrong, peeling from headrest. there is no such thing as a customer repair line….on hold for hours.
Totally rude repair representative….but lets face it they need a bulldog on the line to chew us up and spit us out because of the poor quality!
